Mommy Moment

Oops -Kinda went crazy and out of the lines on my lips.

I'm always blogging about Addison and the things she or we do together and I thought it might be kinda cool to make some posts about ME. So every now and then, I'm going to have a "Mommy Moment".This Mommy Moment thought came to me in the shower (most of my good thoughts come at random moments when I'm no where near paper to write them down, luckily this one I could remember) These post might be about me only, or may include family, friends, strangers, random thoughts, ideas, events, etc (you get the picture). Maybe one day Addison will want to read about her Old Mom and things I like, did, thought, felt and such. This is probably the closest I will ever get to my 15 minutes of fame! If you are on this blog solely for the kid, then simply past over the Mommy Moment posts. I'm not nearly as interesting as Addison but, it is a way for me to preserve some moments about myself. I'm sure when I'm 50 I won't even remember how I felt at age 29. I'm sure my interests will change and will be an old pro at this mommy thing. I may even be bald from pulling my hair out during Addison's teen age years! Ya, just never know. So now begins my very first post labeled Mommy Moment:
This Saturday I attended a Lingerie Shower for my cousin-to-be Adela. She is marring my wonderful, handsome, intelligent, sweet, romantic cousin Alex (can you tell I really love him). He is the total package and such a great catch! The shower had Burlesque theme. The invite had a pin up girl/ burlesque girl on it. I thought it would be incredibly fun to wear my hair in a pin up type fashion to the shower. I'm all about dressing up. I found a good pin up hair do tutorial online (hooray for the Internet and for Al Gore who invented it!) . I watched intently, on how to master the art of Pin Up girl hair. I went back in the bathroom and practiced while Addison was drinking a bottle of Jack on the couch watching the Sopranos, just kidding. She was asleep in her bed, with Pooh protruding from her butt, like always (his name is Pooh, might as well smell like it right?) Anyway, I started to get into this whole pin up thing. I researched clothing styles and make up. I really wanted to wear a corset-NOT A REVEALING ONE. Trust you me, no one wants to see my sagging boobs (I owe them all to breastfeeding.) I went to a few stores but they were like 65-80 dollars (um, no thanks). I knew there was a store in St. Matthew's mall called the Body Shop (specializing in skimpy bar hopping clothes) They also sell undies and bras there all for pretty cheap. I went in on a mission, find no revealing red or black corset. The invite asked that every one dress in red or black or both. Well, what do you know , I found one. It was $ 14. I bought it and so my transformation from Housewife to Betty Page began.
I was decked out in smokin hot red heels (thanks to Holly for letting me borrow them despite the fact that they rubbed the skin off my big toe, they were very sexy and worth the pain) black pencil skirt, red and black corset, pin up hair do, feathery number in my hair, luscious red lips, false eyelashes (I still had glue caked on my eyelids the next day, despite my scrubbing) and a satin black ruffly half coat. I felt so cool. Like I went back in time. My hair and outfit were a big hit at the party. I had a fabulous time and met some really great gals. All the decor was red and black, they had strip tease music playing, great food, the champagne was flowing, all the guests got a red or black feather fan to take home. It was so fun. I really enjoyed myself. When Addison saw me and my cousin Hillary she said, " Mommy and Hillary look beautiful". Your body changes so much after having a kids and it is really hard (at least for me to feel pretty or sexy anymore) but I really did feel sexy Saturday. I was thinking it may be kinda fun to have a pin up 30th birthday party next year. We will who know what another year will bring. Stay tuned for another Mommy Moment :)
