That is how I feel my life goes as a mother. I'm sure I will get even more behind once the new baby is born. I'm sure juggling two kids will need some adjusting to. The Friday before Halloween we went trick-o-treating at Bellarmine with our friends Laurel and Chris and their two kids Josie and Grayson. It was pretty fun. There were hundreds of carved pumpkins lit all over the great lawn. The proceeded from the night went to a foundation for mental handicapped children and adults. The kids had a blast moving from station to station gathering treats. Some of the stations had art projects, face paining, and games. With the kids being younger we skipped over those tables. We even caught up with a few moms from the moms group. We really enjoyed ourselves and afterwards went to Laurel and Chris's house and played. It was a great evening with great friends. I would really like to go back next year.
The very next day, Saturday was day number two of trick-or-treating. This time we went to Jeff and Dana's house in Shelbyville for dinner, trick-or-treating and a movie. There were a variety of soups , and goodies to choose from to eat. After dinner all the kids geared up and went out in search of some good candy. We made it around a huge circle and back and by the end the kids bag were filled with goodies and they were tuckered out. Upon returning to Jeff and Dana's the kids rummaged through their bags ate a few treats and we headed across the street for popcorn and a movie. The kids (Hayden, Aidan, and Addison) watched Charlie Brown's Halloween Movie and gobbled popcorn. When he movie was over we headed back across the street and packed up and headed home. We had a wonderful time on day two trick-or-treating.
The next day, actually Halloween, we went to Peter and Jen's house for Chili and trick-or-treating. We did this last year and it was a blast. Addison and Audrey held hands and went to each house asking nicely for treats. It was a bit tougher this time to get Addison to make it around the entire block. I think by day there she had had her fill of Halloween. At one of the houses there was a pumpkin made to look like it was throwing up. I made the mistake of telling Addison it was throwing up because it ate too much candy. Addison keep obsessing about the puking pumpkin. She kept asking why it was puking and wanting to see the picture I had taken of the pumpkin. Finally we distracted her by leaving Pete and Jen's and going home to hit up a few of the houses in our new neighborhood. Grammy and Poppy came to visit with Addison and see her costume and bring her a MUCH NEEDED bag or candy. Yes, I was being sarcastic there.
We had an eventful Halloween weekend. I would say defiantly got our fill of trick-or-treating this year. Hard to believe next year we will have another little trick-or-treater with us, much to young for treat but can't wait to see him or her dressed in a tiny costume.
