Christmas Light Looking; A Mimi Tradition

Kevin has very fond memories of looking at Christmas light with his Mimi. For the last couple of years we have carried on this tradition with Addison even though Mimi isn't here to join us. There is one neighborhood in particular that we always visit because Kevin said they would always look there with Mimi. Kevin told me that Mimi wanted to live in that neighborhood. She loved to entertain but never felt like she had enough room. She wanted a huge house more then anything trust me they aren't all they are cracked up to be (at least from a cleaning stand point.)
Anyway we love being able to share this tradition with Addison. Anyway that I can help Addison to know Mimi and who she was, what she liked, and how very special she was and still is to to our family. She and I had a great relationship. Her love for her family was VERY apparent. She loved her grandchildren so very much and I know she would be absolutely crazy about all the great-grandchildren. I remember when I was pregnant with Addison Mimi was dying in the hospital. She was in pretty bad shape but the day we found out that we were having a girl we went to the hospital, we were determined to tell her that she was going to have a great grand daughter. When we share the good news with her, her face lit up. I made me feel good to be able to tell her that even if it was one of that last times I got to speak to her. I think of her often and miss her friendship. I wish Addison had the opportunity to get to know her. I see a lot of Mimi in Addison. Kevin always says she had Mimi's eyes.
I know Mimi is watching down over us keeping us safe and healthy. Part of me knows in some way when we go out looking at lights she is with us enjoying the tradition right along with us.
I loved seeing all the lights but my favorite house had a simple sign in their yard that said it all,"Happy Birthday Jesus"
We had a good time looking at lights , listening to Christmas music and ended the night with some Peppermint Ice Cream. The end to a very festive day.
