So Kevin and I spent our four anniversary at the Doctor's office with Addison. I know SO romantic! She hadn't been feeling well for about a week; constantly complaining about her belly hurting. She was being super clingy, which is not her personality and just seemed kind of off. So with some urging from Grammy and Pop, we headed to the Doctor. This was the very first appointment that Addison did not cry. Normally, the visit goes something like this, we go through the door to the waiting room and the whining begins. Addison's name gets called and we go to the room and she starts fussing. The nurse makes us strip down her clothes and she cries. The Doctor comes in and she is in hysterics. Everything he says and does upsets her more and more. He leaves the room and magically the water works turns off. Funny how that happens.
Not this time. She sat there like an angel, let him poke and prude her with not even a peep. She even told him that she had a stethoscope at home in her doctors kit. He said from feeling around on her tummy he could tell her belly was a bit distended and was asking about her pooping patterns. The poop has been an issue since we began whole milk. She has been taking a stool softener since as long as I can remember. He told me to double her dosage and sent us to Kosair for some x-rays. Kevin headed back to work and Addison and I went on to the new Kosair at Brownsboro.
The building was state of the art. Addison had a blast coloring Dora pictures and playing with all the toys in the waiting room. They took Addison and I back to the X-ray room and got her changed into a gown and me a lead vest. I held her hand as her sweet little body got x-rayed. As they were taking the x-ray I couldn't help but think about what I would do if something was really wrong with her. I started thinking about one of my kids from the preschool who recently had a tumor removed from his brain that turned out to be cancerous. My heart has been aching for his family. I read his blog weekly to see the progress he is making. God is defiantly with his family during this hard time. Adam is such a strong little boy.
After the x-ray they took us back and showed us the x-ray and attempted to explain to me in a dumbed down way that all the black areas were either poop or gas. There was a lot of black. I immediately felt really bad for Addison.
Later we got a phone call from the doctor's office saying basically that Addison was full of poop, which we already knew;)
Glad my baby girl is alright. We doubled her dosage and haven't had any more episodes. Glad to have a clean bill of health. Thanks to God for good health.
