With all the demo, rebuilding, paining, and construction that has been going on in our house it is easy for a two year old to feel a little left out. No it was never our intention to make Addison feel that way but we have been to get as much done as possible. Our main goal was to make sure she felt safe and secure in her new home. The room we finished first was hers so she would have a safe haven to go to to get away from all the dust and junk overtaking the hallways. Sometimes I swore the junk was multiplying. This weekend our project was to paint the hallway. Addison came in and said she wanted to help paint. Our family is a very hands-on family and who am I to turn down good help. So Daddy took the time to patiently show Addison how to dip the paint brush in the paint just so. He was coaching her on the art of not getting too much paint on the brush. It was very sweet to see the two of them working together. Then he took her to the wall and we clapped and cheered at her time strokes. She squealed with glee at the help she was providing to her parents. She started explaining to us that each stroke she made on the wall was a family member. She would do a stroke and say "this is Poppy, this is Grammy, Baby Landon, Avery, Hayden, etc until she named everyone in each family. It was so sweet and that is forever a memory that will be embedded in my mind and painted in our home. Of course Daddy had to smooth is out but, she lovingly painted everyone on our wall. Lets hope she doesn't get any ideas about paining any other places when Mommy and Daddy aren't looking. I love sweet moments like these. I want to think back on these precious moments when Addison is grown and remember how much she loved to help her Mom and Dad and how it delighted her to please us.
