Story Time

Addison and I have been going to the weekly story hour at the Library. I used to take Zach when I was a Nanny and really enjoyed it. Well, at the Middletown Library they do a weekly art project. The first week the theme was Dogs so we made a dog puppet which turned out really cute. Addison was so funny she couldn't wait to make the dog. They had all the supplies arranged on the table and she knew it was something fun to do. The Librarian encouraged us to get creative and we made our dog have ear that folded over in honor our dog Macey. When we finished our dog Addison, proudly pranced up to the Librarian to show off her dog puppet. She complimented Addison on a job well done and gave her a dog sticker.
We enjoyed ourselves so much that this week we invited Deanna and Hayden. Again Addison was so excited to do the art project. She could hardly wait for the books to be finished. We danced last week but this week we sang and did Head Shoulders Knees and Toes. Addison has been crazy about this song since she was a year old. We also did open and shut them which Holly always does with her. I think Deanna enjoyed getting out and doing something different. Hayden or should I say little Monkey man climbed up in the adult chairs and sat quietly listening to the story. Miss social butterfly made the rounds talking to Hayden, Deanna, and I. She kept hugging Hayden and saying "Hi Hayden". The theme today was Apples. We counted apples, and talked about colors and even made an apple tree. Addison has been counting everything lately. She counts toys, food, her toes, and so on. She can count to twenty. She occasionally skips a few numbers but, she loves to count. Making the apple tree was my favorite part. Addison really enjoyed using the glue stick. She kept taking the top off and on. Addison's job was to crumple the "apples" and glob the glue on the tree trunk. My job was to stragitically place the apples on the tree. it was a joint effort.
After the Library, we went to De De's to play with Hayden. He and Addison played kitchen, Lego's, cars, and ate Apple Jack. I think Hayden likes them as much as Addison. De De made the kids grilled cheese and gave them a cookie for dessert. We talked about their second birthdays and Deanna and I tried to teach them to hold up two fingers. We had a great time with Deanna and Hayden. We hope they will join us at the Library again some time. Maybe Kayle and Dianna can join us too!
