Addison has only been to one kids show and that was at age two. We went to Disney live. Kevin's cousin Erin got free tickets to see the play Madagascar. I was super excited to take Addison. I knew she would love it. She, Kayla and Hayden did awesome at Disney Live so I had no qualms about taking Addison and Hayden the Madagascar. We talked about it all day long. Addison could hardly nap in anticipation to get to the theatre with Hayden. So Kevin, Holly.Addison, Hayden, and I went to see Madagascar at the Louisville Palace downtown. We arrived early and the kids were antsy for the show to begin. They both couldn't wait to see the animals.
Finally the show began and the kids very very engaged. They smiled and giggles as the animals sang and danced across the stage. I felt really good about how they both were really engaged in the show. Well, it didn't last long. As soon as the plot began to unfold Addison was ready to go. Hayden was an angel sitting on Kevin's lap. Addison would not quit telling me over and over again how much she wanted to go home. I tried pulling out all the stops. I had my purse stock piled with gum, food, drinks and chocolate. I left no stone unturned. I didn't want to spend a fortune on snacks when we had some at home. The food kept Addison appeased for a very short time and she was back at whining about going home.
I couldn't really enjoy the show due to the fact she was driving me up a wall. All the time Hayden remained composed and watched the show quietly. At the very end of the show the animals got more upbeat and began singing and Addison loved it. She shook her little tush until she couldn't shake it anymore. I think the show was more for an older audience. The plot was a bit over their heads.
Funny thing is, since the show all Addison talks about is how much she loved the play. She pretends to go see Madagascar all the time. She will sing the songs and act as if it were the best day of her life. Just goes to show even after raising this kids for three year I still have no clue! I think it will be a while before we attend another show and I had been debating over the movies but I'm pretty sure that it a no go for a while. She is actually attending the circus tomorrow with her Daddy so we will see how that goes. It is Mommy's day off and man, am I looking forward to a nice quiet day :)
